Christine Aspen
MS, LAC, NCC, C-IAYT
Christine holds a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling, in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, from Rutgers University. Her clinical background is in community mental health, where she worked with clients managing severe mental health conditions, substance use, and process addictions. This work taught Christine how to meet people where they are and help them persevere through difficult and complicated times. Christine is dedicated to helping clients overcome problems, build resilience, resolve discrepancies, enhance coping skills and achieve greater satisfaction in life.
Christine works with adolescents and adults. She is a Certified Trauma Professional and Certified Grief Professional, and she is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), which helps children and teens ages 3-18 process traumatic experiences. She also has unique experience and training in supporting families as they navigate the mental health impacts of online child exploitation. She has a strong interest in helping parents advocate for their kids, and is a Proud Ally, committed to supporting LGBTQIA+ persons and their loved ones and parents.
Before becoming a licensed counselor, Christine owned a yoga studio for 7 years, and she also holds a Master of Science in Clinical Yoga Therapy. She blends the two approaches in a variety of ways, bringing in breathwork, mindfulness, and body-based tools when they fit a client's needs and preferences.
Christine’s style is engaging, empathetic, and supportive. She draws from an eclectic mix of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Positive Psychology to build practical, strength-based plans that fit each person. She believes people can grow, change, and realize their goals at any age, and she is honored to support clients along the way. Outside of the office, Christine enjoys spending time with her husband, her two children, and her miniature dogs.
